The newspaper claims fullback Danny Simpson is under consideration for a shock England call.
Fabio Capello has, allegedly, put right-back Simpson on his England radar.
The Mirror: "Capello was at the Emirates on Sunday to check on Newcastle’s bad boy striker Andy Carroll.
"But ex-Manchester United trainee Simpson also caught the eye of the England manager and is now firmly in his mind as one for the future.
"Capello’s assistant Franco Baldini had also seen Simpson the previous Sunday when he watched Newcastle thrash Sunderland and was impressed by the 23-year-old.
"Capello will name his squad on Saturday night and is preparing to give some young players a chance against France next Wednesday."
