Newcastle v Arsenal

No real surprises in either squad ahead of this afternoon’s game, with the big news the return of Gary Speed.

The Welshman will probably have to settle for a place on the bench as he is lacking match practice following the postponement of Sunday’s reserve game.

Aaron Hughes is available again and looks certain to start at right back in the continued absence of Andy Griffin.

Hugo Viana, Jonathan Woodgate and Jamie McClen are ruled out by injury and Steve Harper is banned, so Tony Caig will be on the bench.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has a virtually full squad to choose from after Ashley Cole recovered from a groin injury.

Freddie Ljungberg is the Gunners only notable absentee.
