Newcastle United Target 3 Big Names From Relegated Bournemouth Side

Newcastle United reportedly have a serious interest in three names who were relegated with Bournemouth last season, with extensive talks having already taken place.

Callum Wilson, Josh King and Harry Wilson - who was on loan at the Vitality Stadium from Liverpool - are all of interest to Steve Bruce, who is looking to add more firepower to his squad after the Magpies struggled to find the back of the net throughout the 2019/20 campaign.

According to the Northern Echo intensive talks for the trio have been held over the last fortnight, but following the failed Saudi-backed takeover bid Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has imposed strict restraints on Bruce's transfer budget, making any deals to this point difficult.

The three attackers are likely to be available at the right price and keen on a move away, with Harry Wilson expected to find first-team opportunities hard to come by following his return to parent club Liverpool, and Bournemouth clearly prepared to part ways with their star men having already sold Nathan Aké and Aaron Ramsdale.

Callum Wilson and King will be hoping returns to the Premier League boost their chances of selection for the delayed European Championship next summer, although in King's case Norway still have to tackle the play-offs to be sure of their place in the tournament.

Due to the financial constraints at St. James' Park, Newcastle have instead been focusing their attention on Arsenal defender Rob Holding and Porto striker Moussa Marega.

Holding is set to join on a one-year loan deal from the Gunners having seen himself forced down Mikel Arteta's pecking order by the imminent arrival of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille, while 29-year-old Marega has been the subject of a £13.5m bid.

Newcastle will have beaten Leeds to the signature of Arsenal's 24-year-old centre-half, who played in their Community Shield victory over Liverpool at the weekend. Marega will offer another option up front after Dwight Gayle suffered an injury during a pre-season friendly against Crewe.
