Newcastle Spell Ruined Shearer's Ambitions!

He had eight games as manager of Newcastle and won one and saw the Magpies relegated.

Mark Lawrenson and Alan Hansen said at the time: "He has nothing to lose", but that spell has knocked the ambition out of him.

Alan Shearer: “I wanted to go back into management but that candle is not burning brightly now.

“I’ve been a pundit now for eight years and love what I’m doing.

“And it’s not difficult for me to be objective about Newcastle. If you’ve played poorly or made a ­mistake and someone points that out, you’ve got to be big enough to ­accept it.
