Newcastle, Norwich & Watford Offered Milan Midfielder Lucas Biglia

Newcastle have been given the opportunity to sign Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia in the January transfer window, with his contract due to expire this June.

The 33-year-old is currently sidelined with a thigh injury and is expected to return to action later this month. However, the Argentine remains uncertain about his future with the Serie A side, and could sign for another club before his contract runs out this summer.

According to AS, via SempreMilan, the latest club to receive an offer for his services are Newcastle, having been contacted by his agent earlier this week.

Steve Bruce has revealed his interest in signing a central midfielder, but with Biglia currently in the twilight of his career, it seems highly unlikely that Mike Ashley would make an offer.

Biglia was linked to a move to St James’ Park back in 2013 while he was playing for Belgian side Anderlecht, but went on to play for Italian club Lazio that same year.

Fellow Premier League sides Norwich City and Watford have also been offered the midfielder, but La Liga outfit Celta Vigo are supposedly the firm favourites to sign Biglia, with the club showing a keen interest in a transfer.

During his career, Biglia has secured 58 caps at senior international level for Argentina, as well as making over 500 appearances across at club level.

However, he has only managed seven league appearances this season due to an unfortunate set of injuries he has picked up in recent times.

In the last two-and-a-half years, Biglia has been struggling with fitness, having picked up seven injuries, with the majority of these setbacks linked to muscular problems.

His last appearance for Milan was back in early December, with the club currently sitting tenth in the league, level on points with ninth-placed Hellas Verona.
