Newcastle must sell Dyer

Reports are emerging today, albeit it from very dubious sources, that Chelsea are interested in signing Kieron Dyer.

We can only hope that either these reports are true or that the hype it may generate alerts other clubs to his availability.

One negative aspect of Souness’ arrival was that it meant players were given a fresh start – the slate was wiped clean. We don’t want Dyer to have a clean slate. We know that he can’t pass, tackle, head or shoot and that added to this general lack of ability he is an arrogant, overpaid ? (choose your own word carefully!)

I believe that these latest reports are rubbish and are merely people trying to get readers on an otherwise quiet news day (that’s usually when these stories emerge).

Newcastle must sell Dyer – is it any coincidence that in his absence we went nine games undefeated and the midfield looked more resilient and creative?

His return to fitness is apparently imminent - a fully fit Dyer is excellent news as his value as a makeweight in the purchase of a top class central defender cannot be underestimated.

Souness must sell Dyer before the consensus that deems Dyer a great player disintegrates and he is exposed as the arrogant waster that he has ultimately become.
