Grasping at straws as the Blues failed to pick up three points at St James' Park, the Chelsea gaffa knows that the Mancs are now firm favourites to take the Premiership.

Jose Mourinho: "One rule is not to allow penalties against Man United and another says none in favour of Chelsea. You are speaking about big decisions which affect points.

"If you ask if Chelsea deserve to win this game, I don't think so. Newcastle were fresher and were dangerous on the counter attack.

"They deserve to get their point.

"Our target for weeks has been to finish this period with a situation where we could do it (win the title) and I would have been very happy with this situation 10 weeks ago.

"We are in a position to fight for the Premiership. One win is not a lot."

Glenn Roeder: "I was happy with the performance. The boys have taken a little bit of flak over the last month or so and I told them before the game that this was an opportunity to get some pride back and show the supporters they are prepared to show the bravery and courage you need when you are playing the double champions.

"They did that today. I do not think there was a poor performance from any of our players and it was probably a fair result."
