Mort: "I see a big part in the role of the club as working in the community.
"We see it as very important to do what we can to develop sporting facilities in the area.
"The best way for me to get to know the area is to get out there and go to events.
"I want to meet the people and get their views on life on Tyneside, and on how we can do things better, and then get out there and do it.
"Sitting indoors in an office wouldn't achieve that.
"Everybody I have met since coming to Newcastle has been very welcoming.
"I get the sense that this is part of the Geordie make-up and that is great."
