More About McMahon And His 'Strange' Toon U-Turn!

Last updated : 13 July 2009 By Footy Mad - Editor

... we received an e-mail today from a guy (Billy Watson) who is working in Singapore, and our concerns seem to have some substance.

Dear Sir,

I would just like to add to your article which poses the question, why the u-turn by Steve McMahon.

I have worked in Singapore for the last nine years and in that time have witnessed first hand his attitude to Newcastel United. He fronts a TV show over there for ESPN and to say he borders on the insulting when refering to NUFC is putting it mildly. He is no friend of the North Eats believe me!

There is more to this story and to be honest I'm a little more than surprised that the tabloids have not picked up on it as yet?

Living and working in South East Asia as I do we are subject to advertisements by the local corporations, one such advertisement features the Profitable group's public face Steve McMahon and along side him is none other than Bryan Robson.

Now it seems to me that we both agree on McMahon's lack of earlier interest in NUFC which opens up the prospect of Bryan Robson being the driving force here.

So how about the prospect of Mr Robson the football managerial failure popping up as the new NUFC chairman. That seems to me worhty of some copy and debate.

Your thoughts?

Billy

Our article:

Why the U-turn ... former Liverpool midfielder Steve McMahon now claims his Singapore-based investment company have launched a bid to buy Newcastle. Last December (and three times since) he said his company wasn't interested!

Steve McMahon: "We've had a bid in and it's under serious consideration.

"It's a strategic move and will be great for Newcastle. We can turn what is a disaster at the moment into a success."

Yeah ... very interesting.

Obviously someone in it just to make a profit!

Does this bring us hope? The guy wouldn't touch the club with a barge pole when we were a Premiership side ... so what has changed his mind?
