It is not the first time Wright-Phillips has been courted with a move to Tyneside, both Sir Bobby Robson and Graeme Souness tried to sign him before Chelsea threw a wad of cash at him.

But the England international insists he will not quit the club in the summer.

His future has come under intense speculation as he dropped out of first-team contention towards the end of the season.

He started only three League games since January with coach Avram Grant opting to play Florent Malouda, Joe Cole or Salomon Kalou on the flanks.

Wright-Phillips: "I will definitely be at Chelsea next season.

"Speculation has been like this since I was at Manchester City. It was going on for seven years before I left.

"Then I came to Chelsea and speculation has been going on for my whole time here and I have still not left. I have signed a contract (until summer 2010) and I'm here to see it out."
