Milner Could Settle His Own Future

I can tell you for a fact England Under-21 international James Milner is not a member of the Graeme Souness fan club. And one comment from the Newcastle manager last season still sticks with the ex-Leeds United winger "You don't win anything with a team full of James Milners".

Villa boss David O'Leary - who worked with Milner when he was manager of Leeds United - continues to try and capture the 20-year-old on a permanent basis, despite Newcastle saying the player is not for sale.

Milner cost United £3.5m in the summer of 2004, and Villa's bold effort at trying to get him for £1m was laughed out of Toon. But the player could have a say in where he ends up in the summer.

Milner: "When you play every week you get more confidence and it's a great feeling. That's what happened to me at Leeds and it's a great opportunity for me at Villa. Hopefully I'm taking that opportunity, learning and putting some good performances in."
