The newspaper reports - if Sir Alex Ferguson slaps in a £13m offer for the Nigerian striker they will be powerless to stop Martins leaving for Old Trafford because of the release clause in his contract.
Fergie's need for a striker is bordering on sheer desperation. United have made the worst start to a Premiership season in 15 years, and with Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha out injured, Oba could be seen as the man to dig them out of the hole.
Personally I cannot see it happening. Martins is very much a part of Big Sam´s plans and this is nothing but speculation made out of nothing constructive.
