Young striker Nile Ranger scored after eight minutes after being set up by Jonhy Godsmark.

After 38 minutes Godsmark made it 2-0 with a low strike past Bolton keeper Robert Lainton.

And a United struck a third through Gosfmark at the start of the second half.

Ranger - signed from Southampton last year - scored his 18th goal for the club's reserve and Academy sides so far this season.

But Kinnear, despite Newcastle's ongoing injury crisis, insists he will careful with the 17-year-old Londoner.

Kinnear: "The kids will come into the fringes again at Hull, but with people like Nile Ranger you have to be careful.

"He has a great future ahead of him, but you don't put him in against class players in his first match.

"It's a case of nurturing them and giving them 20 minutes here and there.

"They only need a flavour of it at that age, and you can't give them anything that is too sensational."
