Sunderland's survival hopes have been dealt a massive blow as it is believed the Black Cat's top goalscorer is almost certainly set to miss a number of games – including the Tyne-Wear derby!

Fletcher could be out for at least the next two weeks – and the derby at St James’ Park is on Sunday, April 14.

The 25-year-old returned to Wearside from Glasgow yesterday morning for a scan on his ankle.

The £12million signing has missed just one Premier League game since his arrival from Wolves and his absence would mean Danny Graham, who has failed to score since his move from Swansea, having to step up.
