Gareth Hall has sold the first division championship medal he won with Sunderland in 1996 for £1,080, to help a cousin,who is dying from cancer.The nine carat gold medal was among a dozen football mementoes Hall sold for nearly £6,000 at Bonhams in Chester this week.
He plans to give the cash to cousin Peter Reece, 44, who has stomach cancer.
