Roy Keane: "I'm glad things have settled down for him now, there was a lot of negative media around him but just let him get on with the job," said Keane.

"He's entitled to a fair crack of the whip like everyone else. He's an experienced man and he deserves a chance.

"He's got full respect from me because of what he's previously done and what he's trying to do at Newcastle.

"Give the man a chance, he's been there two minutes and they're showing good spirit under him. He's working on that side of the game a lot, that togetherness which he created at Wimbledon.

"He likes that type of attitude and it seems to be coming across already with the players. I went to watch them against Everton and they battled back well in that one."
