15-times capped Spanish international Albert Luque has not won over the Toon Army since his big money signing in the summer, but he says he wants to demonstrate the sparkling form that terrorised defences in Spain.

Luque: "I am happy to come back and very eager to play well for the team. I want to recapture my best form because I have been out for a couple of months. It has been difficult and very disappointing for me because the team have not been playing well at times, but I have not been able to help them.

"I know all of the supporters are disappointed we are not higher in the league. But I feel the team can get better game by game and build up some consistency. I want to bring something more to the team and make things more exciting for the Newcastle fans.

"Psychologically it is difficult for me because I have not had any problems with my hamstring before. The injury has kept me out for three months and the only way for it to pass is by getting through games, which is my main aim now. At the moment it feels all right and I hope it feels stronger game by game.

"I am happy to play on the left or as a striker. I have played in both positions for both Deportivo and Spain. The main thing for me is to get back into form and for people to see what I can bring to the team."
