The 36-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning at his home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

He was released on Monday night, pending further inquiries.

Cole, who is currently on the books at Sunderland ... but on loan to Burnley ... was arrested at 2.27am on Monday, February 25, when police were called to his house.

He was interviewed and released last night on police bail until a date in April pending further inquiries.
