True or not, Liverpool are plotting a bid for Blackburn winger David Bentley this summer according to reports in The People (which is another London-based newspaper that gets its articles from the Beano).

The former Arsenal star made his move to Ewood Park permanent in 2006 after spending a year on loan with Mark Hughes' side.

Rafa Benitez is reportedly ready to make a £12 million move for Bentley in the hope of offering some sort of Premiership challenge to Man Utd and Chelsea next season.

Bentley has added fuel to the fire by saying he will not extend his contract at Ewood Park.

If news breaks that Milner is available, Aston Villa are sure to be interested. The Toon star spent a time on loan at Villa Park and was "five minutes away from signing for Villa" on the last day of the 2006 transfer window.
