Liam Sweeney , a lifelong Newcastle United fan from Killingworth , was laid to rest today after losing his life on board doomed Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 .
Liam's funeral took place at St Mary's Cathedral in Newcastle city centre before a family reception at St James' Park.
It was a very emotional day for everyone, and full marks to NUFC who have done everything in their power to make this day a one to remember for a loyal fan who was on his way to New Zealand to see a pre-season friendly.
Alan Pardew, John Carver and Fabricio Coloccini were at the cathedral to represent NUFC.
