Laws was hugely disappointed to be leaving his native Tyneside empty-handed, but did so backing Newcastle to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Brian Laws: "I think they should get promoted with the quality they have within the squad.
"All right, they have lost a few, but they have still got a huge amount of players who have got real quality and are Premier League players."
