Kinnear ended his first day in charge watching strikes from Nile Ranger and Doninger give his new club a lift from all the doom and gloom of recent weeks.

Doninger revealed after the game he had rallied his team-mates before kick off, determined that the reserves end their three-game losing streak.

Doninger: "Before the game I stood up and said the club needs some kind of win.

"It's for the reserves, but it's also for everybody at the club - the reserves, the first team and the Academy.

"The whole club needs a lift, and hopefully this can help do that.

"The manager was watching, and hopefully I can get a chance.

"It's good for me. I hope that the new manager can give myself and a couple of other players a chance. A few injuries or suspensions can put you into contention."

"There were quite a few of their players trying to put me off, but I kept focused and stuck it away.

"My first thought when the ref pointed to the spot was to get the ball.

"I didn't think we were going to get it. The ref wasn't going to (award it), but the linesman has gave it our way."
