The goalkeeper is set to become the third player to leave the Magpies on Wednesday after midfielder Henri Saivet joined Saint-Etienne and Daryl Janmaat passed a Watford medical.

The Mail claim Krul, 28, will sign a one-year contract extension with Newcastle before joining the Amsterdam club and replacing Jasper Cillessen, who is bound for Barcelona following Ajax’s Champions League qualifier with Rostov.

It is said that the keeper is on around £60,000 per week and Newcastle will have to subsidise part of his salary while his is with Ajax.

A departure for Krul has been on the cards after manager Rafa Benitez confirmed to the Evening Chronicle that he is willing to listen to offers for the goalkeeper.

“He has one year left on his contract and we have five keepers are the moment, he’s coming back from injury, training hard and improving,” Benitez said last week. “We have Sels now, we have Darlow and we have Woodman so we can’t keep five keepers for the whole season.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports’ transfer centre blog (1.36pm) on Wednesday revealed that Janmaat the 27-year-old right-back has passed a medical at Vicarage Road and that an announcement should be made imminently.

It was reported that the Hornets had agreed a £7.5million fee for Janmaat with Newcastle, meaning that the Toon are in line to make a £2.5million profit despite suffering relegation.

The defender was left out of Rafael Benitez’s squad for the Championship clash against Bristol City on the weekend in a signal that a move was imminent.

Tottenham’s DeAndre Yedlin has been lined up as a possible replacement to Janmaat at St James’ Park, as new signing Jesus Gomez lined up against Cheltenham on Tuesday evening in the EFL Cup.

Benitez hinted on Monday that Janmaat could be set to leave, as he was quoted as saying that Newcastle would listen to offers for the Holland international.

The experienced defender made 32 appearances for Newcastle in their doomed Premier League campaign, but did bag two goals and four assists.

He has also played in 27 matches for his country.

The Holland international moved to St James’ Park in 2014 for a fee around £5million from Feyenoord.
