Keegan Wants Players With Premiership Experience!

With the closure of the January transfer window fast approaching, the 56-year-old, he knows his signings have to fit in immediately and he cannot afford to mess up this opportunity to bring in new faces.

So many players have come to this club and taken too long to settle.

The names are endless. Even Premiership winners Celestine Babayaro, Nicky Butt, Damien Duff and Scott Parker struggled from the first day.

And the fact Keegan says he had not seen a live match for three years does give him added pressure when making his list. Obviously he needs somone to guide him, and that "someone" you would think would be Alan Shearer, but he is out of the country.

Keegan: "You take nine players out of a football club of that quality - four of them are good enough to play for their countries in the African Nations Cup, there are two very experienced players who have played for Manchester United and won things.

"A player like Emre, who is a very inventive player, and then Mark Viduka, who has scored goals wherever he has played and at international level too.

"In some ways, you would say okay, it's not the result we wanted, but it's not a disaster.

"Some great players - and I mean great players - have come here (to England) and struggled to start with.

"I would prefer to bring in players who do not need too much settling in mainly, to play with the players we have got.

"We have got some good players here, make no mistake about it, better than you saw today."
