West Ham have slapped an £8million price tag on the central defender who is allegedly interesting Newcastle, and also a target for Aston Villa.

Martin O'Neill has only two experienced centre-backs in Martin Laursen and Zat Knight, and was thought to be willing to go as high as £6m for the West Ham youngster.
