Keane wishes Man U had signed Shearer

In a question and answer session on Man U’s official website the volatile Irishman was asked to name the best player of all time, and after naming Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane and Rivaldo, Keane adds:

"People think I have a problem with Alan Shearer but I don’t and I think he’s an outstanding player. I was a pity he never came here.

"I’ve had run-ins with him, but that’s football. It doesn’t take anything away from what I think about him as a player.

"I don’t know him as a person, but as a player you’d have to say that he’s been the best player in England – maybe Europe – over the last ten years.

"Especially when you think of the injuries he’s had. The goals he’s got and the all-round package – he’s been great. I just wish he’d come here."
