Keane Signs His Own 'Joey Barton'!

Sunderland supporters have flooded us with e-mails at the prospect of Joey Barton's return to St James' Park (although not ALL pulling the ****, some showing a concern for the state of play allowing him to return to football).

And now we can laugh at the prospect of the transfer of "spit in yer face" El-Hadji Diouf upsetting a few Mackems.

Toon target Pascal Chimbonda is bad enough! A man who once handed in a transfer request straight after a Wigan end-of-season game and stormed off in a tantrum after being substituted during the Carling Cup Final.

But signing controversial Senegal striker El-Hadji Diouf (for £2.6million) is another level.

The 27-year-old former Liverpool striker was a regarded as a bit of a cult figure at Bolton ... but there isn't a brain cell in the Reebok ... after all they made SAM ALLARDYCE a cult figure.

We made Big Sam a cult figure alright ... but didn't quite spell it that way.

Keane: 'El-Hadji is a great signing and we're thrilled to get him in. He has bags of Premier League and international experience, which is exactly what we've been targeting this summer.

'He has always been the kind of player opposition teams and supporters love to hate, a thorn in the side, and that's why we're delighted to now have him.

'Our coach, Ricky Sbragia, has also worked very closely with him (at Bolton) and speaks extremely highly of him, so we're looking forward to working with El-Hadji.'
