Just When Leeds Were On The Up ... Freddy Arrives!

They not only started the season in (what was) the old Third Division ... but the had to start the campaign FIFTEEN POINTS behind everyone else.

But amazingly they have won their first five games and are now officially bottom with no points, rather than -15. So things seemed to be on the rise for the Whites.

Until the weekend, when it became known our old chairman Freddy Shepherd is considering a bid to buy the club.

Shepherd made more than £37M by selling the Shepherd family's 28% stake in Newcastle United to new billionaire owner Mike Ashley. And it is claimed Freddy has been "missing the day to day excitement of running a big club".

So why not splash a bit money on a new hobby? He never put a penny into Newcastle Utd ... apart from buying shares ... but he took a hell of a lot out. So why not do the same with Leeds?

They are vulnerable, 'going for a song', and Freddy won't have far down the road to travel to pop in and run the show.

Leeds manager Dennis Wise does not like the chairman to stick his nose into team business, and you feel a clash is certainly on the cards. As one ex-Newcastle boss put it ... "Freddy can be overpowering, and something no manager needs when you try and pick a team".

Leeds fans may be happy to get rid of Ken Bates, I don't know, and I'd dearly love to hear from them how they view the prospect of having Freddy as chairman.
