Jenas - Life Out Of The Fishbowl

The England international said he felt he was in a "fish bowl" on Tyneside and he could hide away in London without being noticed.

Spurs had a taste of European football this season but need a top-seven finish in the Premiership to qualify again, and if they win their last four games they will be there. But Spurs have not won four games on the trot in the league all season.

Jenas: "It's my second season now and I've seen big strides. We were fifth last year but that was with no cup runs.

"We've got to the quarter-finals and semi-finals of cups this year and a lot of the players looks at that and say it's not good enough, which is a good feeling because we feel we should be going further in the competitions.

"It's good that the players have that ambition for the club. So if we weren't to finish in the UEFA places then I'd feel the season was a failure.

"We set targets and standards last year, and at the end of your career you want to look back at what you've won. Everyone at Spurs wants to win trophies."
And don't we all?

Big signing from Nottingham Forest, he was captain of the England Youth team. Midfielder who was reluctant to join Newcastle unless they gave him a guarantee of first team football. Robson promised him an opportunity ... and he took it. Won his first full England cap against Australia, and won the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2003. Cost £5m. Made skipper in 2004 when Alan Shearer was injured. Sold to Spurs in August 2005, although the club tried hard to keep him.
