Personally I totally lost the plot!
I didn't expect anything from Man City, but I thought we would break that Man Utd hoodoo and get our first win against the Red Devils since 1972 at Old Trafford ... because they had a tough demoralising fixture in Europe in midweek. Was there ever a better time to beat them?
Then there was Chelsea, going through a difficult patch and rarely have they looked like being Premiership contenders this season.
I went for six points ... but we got just one!
After a dose of cold reality, Newcastle United were plunged into an ice bath by yesterday's news that Steven Taylor will miss the rest of the season.
The injury list is mounting, and the thread-bare squad is going to be exposed.
Is James Perch going to prove to us that he can play ... or continue to be a waste of money? We will soon find out.
Davide Santon, the big money misfit. Is he a fighter or a wimp (as some have suggested)? Why has he taken so long (six months!) to be thrown into Premiership action on a regular basis?
Alan Pardew says the spirit of his players has underlined the club's unexpectedly successful start to the campaign after losing players like Kevin Nolan, Jose Enrique and Joey Barton.
The success was down to the fact that the goalkeeper and the whole back four remained unchanged for so long.
Santon didn't get a game, and apparently he didn't WANT a game because he "wasn't ready".
Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini are out, and alarm bells are ringing.
Alan Pardew: "Williamson's back running and I'd suggest he might have an outside chance of playing in the Christmas programme, but I don't think they'll be involved before then.
"Like all the teams in the Premier League, we've got a big, healthy squad and we've invested well.
"We've had a brilliant season so far, but injuries are going to come our way and you have to cope with it. If you have to ask players to play in different positions, then so be it."
James Perch (pictured right) was outjumped by Didier Drogba for the opening goal against Celsea and struggled to cope with the menacing counter-attacks that the Blues launched throughout the second half.
The man is a poor right-back, and I doubt if he will be any better in the centre of the defence. He has no strength, positional sense, or experience to give us what we need to combat strong physical Premiership defenders.
Is he a worry? TOO TRUE HE IS!
