The centre-back was expected to complete his move to Les Gones on Thursday after flying to France and undergoing a medical ahead of finalising personal terms.

But Lyon claim Juve are stalling on the switch while they look for a replacement defender.

Lyon sporting director Marino Faccioli: "Juventus are pushing back the deadline of the transfer having given their agreement.

"The player accepted to play for them in Milan on Wednesday in return for the commitment of the Juve board to put things in place that would allow him to play for OL against St Etienne on Sunday.

"Juventus are waiting to bring in a new signing. It is an attitude I have never seen in my 30-year career."

The three million-euro transfer is still expected to be completed before the closing of the January window.

Boumsong should pen a three-and-a-half-year deal.

2005-6 Jean Alain Boumsong 66/3 2

Born 14 December 1979. French international signed from Glasgow Rangers for £6m. Big and strong and highly rated. Graeme Souness' first buy (after taking ex-Man U and Aston Villa defender Ronnie Johnson who was out of contract), but he never made the grade in the Premiership. Always defended by Souness, but he rarely produced, and he signed for Juventus in the summer of 2006 for £3m.
