Leon Best ... what the fans say ...
Well, now the season is over, I have to say, I hope we never have to see Leon Best in a Toon shirt again. I think he is DREADFUL. I cant see anything but him being woefully out of his depth in the Prem. If he cant score for us in this league, then I'm afraid hes got no business at all at a higher level. I actually look at him at times and wonder if hes even Championship standard! There does seem to me to be a huge quality gap between Best and our other players. People give Shola grief, but for me hes a far superior striker to Best. Shola's goal-scoring record for us in this league is certainly vastly superior! I only hope we can get a decent fee for Best in the summer...

He scored a bunch in the Championship (just not for us).
It didn't seem like a great move when we signed him as I didn't think he was Prem quality (that's right, I was planning for the Prem in January!)
Main point: I seem to remember many people saying that about a certain left back named Jose. And he is now our best player; by some distance!

Personally I dont think Jose Enrique ever looked as poor in the Prem as Best has for us in the Championship. I'm sorry, but for me, Best is simply not good enough...

Except that he hasn't actually scored a bunch in the Championship! He had a good start to the season and reverted back to his usual self a month or two before we bought him!
Can't compare him to Jose. Enrique came into a foreign league and improved, we bought Best as a striker that had already played in the same league for years.

Firstly, he HASN'T been prolific at this level. In fact, his best return was 10 goals in 15 appearances at Yeovil!
Jose was bought for about £7m. He was being tracked by Real Madrid at the time, according to some quarters. He was a massive prospect, and we got him aged just 21. Not only did he have to change league, but language, climate, etc.
Best is English, was 23 (should be canny well experienced) and was bought for a pittance in comparison. Not only was he already playing in the same league before we bought him, he was coming into a team who were creating chances and free scoring. He had THE best wide supply lines in the league from both wings, yet he still can't score!
If he can't force his way into the starting lineup past Carroll, Ameobi and Lovo, then he's got very very little chance of improving enough in a much tougher league.

He should be sold at the earliest opportunity to anyone who will take him, for any price. An utter waste of space.

If you are gona be a top manager you are gona be there for a long period of time and gona sign some gems and some duds the first has to outweigh the second by 75%-25%. Unfortunately its not just doon to CH its doon to his scouting system as well. I think he had limited cash, injured players and had to take a gamble. Unfortunately he seemed to be looking to replace shola when for me a totally different outlet would of been worth the gamble, He plummed for Best (remember he was replacing shola n hareball) and the gamble failed.Hey-ho! My worry would be the lack of imagination, but once again hey-ho. Best came gave it a go clearly not good so needs selling and try again, no harm done to CH or besty good luck mate but your not quite up to this standard go n make a good living somewhere else!!
