Is Hughton Set To Break Promises?

Ryan Donaldson joins Tim Krul in saying he expects to play a part at Stamford Bridge next week in the Carling Cup ... despite Chris Hughton saying he will put out a team that he believes can beat Chelsea.

To beat Chelsea - on their own patch - will take a lot of doing, and only a Newcastle United team full of star players will have the bookies putting us at odds of 10/1 (or less).

Donaldson put in a solid performance at Accrington Stanley in the second round last month and, while he has dropped back into the reserves since then, he still eyes a place at Stamford Bridge.

Donaldson: “As long as we’re in the cup the younger lads have a chance of playing. We’ll just have to wait and see and keep our fingers crossed.

“Chris Hughton has got a lot of trust in us and it’s good to see him saying that when you pick up the paper.

"The manager put in a lot more experienced players in as well in the last round like Shola Ameobi, Peter Lovenkrands and Ryan Taylor.

“It was easy for us because we want to play, but they showed that they are good professionals as well by putting in the performance too.”
