Irish Plummet To New Levels Of Embarrassment!

FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who could not hide his laughter, gave a broad hint that it will be turned down.

As we all know, Thierry Henry infamously handled the ball  before William Gallas' equaliser, but even if the goal didn't stand the Irish were not ahead in the tie.

FIFA have already ruled out a replay.

Blatter: "I will bring it to the attention of the executive committee but if we do that, we will also have to bring in Costa Rica."

Costa Rica believe they too were denied a place in South Africa unfairly, feeling a goal scored by Uruguay in their own play-off was offside, and Blatter's tone suggested it was inconceivable FIFA would add any more countries to the 32-team finals.
