An initial £4.2million bid for his services was rejected by the Suffolk outfit earlier this week, but United returned to them with an higher offer.

The deal is expected to be around £6million, and sees Newcastle beat off interest from Chelsea and arsenal who were also interested in him.

"A bid has been accepted by Ipswich from Newcastle, but the deal will not be finalised until Monday," an Ipswich spokesperson confirmed to The Chronicle today.

"But, as far as Titus is concerned, he is going to be a Newcastle player now. He was prepared to stay at Ipswich if the club did not want to sell him, but he is extremely pleased to be handed the chance to play at a massive club like Newcastle."
