If Only Goalkeeper Had Cut His Hair!

The England international may still be scoring in his new role but he missed a golden chance at Portsmouth to give the Toon revival another boost - apparently, because Pompey goalkeeper David James did not have his hair cut last week.

In the 72nd minute Sylvain Distin shanked an intended clearance straight onto Owen's toe but the instinctive volley may still have spiralled over the bar had it not it brushed the top of James's head first.

James: "I was thinking of having my hair cut last week but I'm glad I didn't or we would have lost 1-0.

"It's a save but I'll take it because, after seeing the video, my performance looked interesting to say the least."

Harry Redknapp: "The amount of points Jamo has saved us I just couldn't guess.

"He's been fantastic. You always think it will take something really special to beat him.

"It's been a tough week but a good week. If you'd said we would reach the cup final and take four points from West Ham and Newcastle I would have said thanks very much."
