I Have News For Kinnear - He IS On Trial!

If Kinnear felt he was going to arrive on Tyneside to a fanfare and Geordies dancing down Scotswood Road ... I think he found out 'early doors' that the majority of Toon fans expected something a little better than a guy who was sacked at Luton Town and Nottingham Forest, and been in hibernation for four years.

He has never experience anything like a big club, and Newcastle is a culture shock to him.

OK, Forest won the European Cup under Brian Clough, but at the time Nottingham was the smallest town to achieve the honour, and the club was a shadow of what it was when Joe arrived.

Kinnear: "I feel like I am on trial in every single game, or every moment of each match, with how important things are.

"But on the positive side, I have always said one more point each week is one point closer to safety.

"I always look at the teams we are playing against considering the team we are putting out, and I always have a fear factor.

"But I have make sure my side is well keyed up for it, and as far as that has been concerned, that's been excellent.

"I have had a fantastic response from any player I have asked to do a difficult job.

"We have had to play various players out of position this season, but nevertheless, we are still in there."

Former Wolves and Rangers striker Andy Gray was the latest to say Kinnear's record of two wins in 11 fixtures is what relegation is made of.
