The extent of Harper’s shoulder ligament damage is still being assessed, but manager Chris Hughton confirmed that Fraser Forster’s season-long loan to Celtic does not contain a recall clause.
Harper picked up the injury when former Newcastle target Jermaine Beckford chased a lost cause and brought him down.
Beckford was booked, and Hughton commented: “I thought it was a challenge that didn’t need to have been made.”
