Heinze Could Yet Sign For Newcastle!

First West Ham refused to sell Marlon Harewood to Wigan Athletic, even though they offered a better than Aston Villa, on the grounds the Wigan chairman tried everything in his power to get the Hammers relegated last season.

And now Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out any possibility of Gabriel Heinze leaving Manchester United for Liverpool, because there is no lost between the two clubs.

Anfield boss Rafael Benitez made a £6million offer (the asking price) but it was immediately rejected by United, and that makes you wonder if Newcastle could still be in the hunt for the defender.

Ferguson: "I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze.

"We can put that to bed right now and we have done so. We have had a couple offers for him and we have turned them down.

"Heinze's agents are rolling the ball all the time. But no matter what his agent thinks, we are in the driving seat.

"I don't exactly know what Gaby thinks because it is all coming from his agent but this has been going on for a year and a half now."

Real Madrid and Inter Milan have both been linked with the 29-year-old. But Newcastle could come out of the blocks and surprise everyone as Mike Ashley is set to go beyond the £6m asking price.
