The Dutch international signed for PSV Eindhoven over the weekend and was handed the number 9 shirt as he looks to rebuild his career.

Luuk De Jong: “I want to get back on the field and show my qualities.

“The talks with PSV have been very positive and I’m very much looking forward to playing here.

“Rejoining the Eredivisie may seem a step back.

“Mostly players do the opposite by moving abroad.

“But PSV repeatedly showed an interest in me and we had several good conversations.

“Things felt good so I decided to sign for PSV.

“It’s obviously a step back in salary, but the main thing for me is to play football and not keep on warming the bench.”
