Has Shearer Any Man Utd Regrets?

Shearer finished his career when he was carried off having scored for Newcastle at the Stadium of Light, and he said afterwards "what a fabulous way to go out".

But during a career that saw him go down in history as one of the greatest goalscorers in the history of English football, he only has one Premiership medal to show for it.

When asked (by Four Four Two) to name the top eleven players he has played alongside ... an amazing EIGHT were Man Utd players.

Suggesting perhaps there was something at the back of his mind saying "what if ....".

But he said: "I have played for my hometown club, and I will go down in the record books as being Newcastle's all-time greatest goalscorer, and THAT means more to me than medals".

As for that incredible record by Ryan Giggs, he collected his 10th league winners' medal and second European Cup winner medal last season, and revealed he was "lucky" to be part of United's success.

Giggs: "I could never envisage first of all how long I'm going to play in the team, and then how successful it's been in that time.

"I have been fortunate to play in an era where it's been the most successful time in Manchester United's history so I have been lucky.

"I moved into Salford from the age of seven. I grew up in the Salford area, played for Salford Boys, and then to play for Manchester United is just unbelievable.

"You can't describe it. You don't think it's going to happen."
