Has Keegan Found His 'Creative Midfielder'?

The Toon boss has spoke about ever since he rejoined the club in January ... the midfielder who can unlock the channel to feed the front men.

Forget about KK's glowing praise of Joey Barton, because the Toon boss spoke of his "dream midfielder" when the ex-Man City player was actually in the team ... long before his term in jail ... so he wasn't as impressed as he made out.

So much so, he even tried Michael Owen there, much to the disgust of many international strikers ... Les Ferdinand for one: "What a waste having Michael Owen grafting in midfield!"

Ferdinand was backed by others, including his old strike partner Alan Shearer.

But perhaps we hae the answer ... and he's already on our books ... James Milner.

The former England Under-21 player revelled in the position on Saturday at Hartlepool.

OK, Hartlepool are not exactly Chelsea or Man Utd, but the 22-year old looked a class act in the middle of the park.

Keegan: "Out wide you wait for the ball to come to you.

"In the centre you get more chance to go and find it.

"James did well — he's the fittest player at the club."
