A number of former players were at St James’s Park today to honour his achievements as player, coach and manager.

Harvey’s son, Ken, 1969 Fairs Cup-winning captain Bob Moncur and Vic Keeble – the only surviving member of the club’s 1955 FA Cup-winning side – unveiled a plaque outside the stadium.

The dedicated Fairs Club raised the money for the memorial, which stands close to the statue of Harvey’s former team-mate Jackie Milburn at the Gallowgate end of the stadium.
