Sam Allardyce has organised the match to take a close look at two trialists and it also gives him the chance to give Damien Duff more match time.

The Newcastle winger had hoped step up his recovery from injury with an apprearance for the reserves last Thursday. Sadly it didn't go to plan.

His comeback was put back after the reserve game at Manchester United was washed out.

The game - being staged at Northwich Victoria's ground - was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, just as United's players were getting off the coach.

Duff, who is yet to kick a ball for the Magpies this season, has been on the sidelines since suffering a dislocation in the middle of his foot against Portsmouth back in April.

The injury had been career-threatening, however, Duff remained strong, battled his way back to fitness and is now looking to step-up his recovery.
