The goalkeeper will end his Toon career next week, and it is thought the Easington-born player will hope to bring Glasgow Rangers down for his Newcastle "goodbye".
Obviously Mike Ashley - who owners a percentage of the Glasgow giants - will make the most of the fixture.
However, it could be difficult to fit a match in pre-season so the game could take place during one of the international breaks next season.
