The club were offered first option on out-of-contract Harewood last week but Newcastle will be pursuing other options.
Harewood’s agent Phil Sproson: “I think Marlon would be very interested in going back to Newcastle but at the moment we’re exploring other options.
“I’ve kept in touch with Newcastle and I spoke to Chris last week to gauge any interest but I don’t think there is anything there.
“Obviously it looks like his budget is limited but I don’t think Marlon’s on his list of summer targets.”
