Gutierrez believes he needs international football, because he feels his involvement in the summer’s World Cup finals helped improve his performances as a player.

“The Championship is a little bit different – not easier, just different.
“It’s a different type of game, so to play for the national team was very important for me. I was a little bit disappointed with the World Cup because we wanted to achieve more. But that’s football, that’s the World Cup, it’s very difficult.”
