The former Newcastle boss will step into the job following Frank Yallop's resignation.
Gullit is probably best remembered on Tyneside for taking us to the 1999 FA Cup final where we lost to Manchester United ... and for dropping Alan Shearer for a Tyne/Wear derby.
Yallop quit the Galaxy on Sunday to return to San Jose for a second stint in charge of the Earthquakes.
Galaxy captain David Beckham, has been named in Steve McClaren's England squad to face Croatia.
