Green said: "I would like to come here, I'm really enjoying myself and the new management team have done an excellent job.

"The lads are fantastic and so are the fans. Without them, I wouldn't be enjoying it as much as I am. I'm looking forward to playing at the new stadium as well but at the moment we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

"At the end of the day, I'm still a Newcastle player but I don't want to go back there to play reserve-team football. I did that for three years."

Tigers boss Peter Taylor is believed to have had a £150,000 bid accepted by Newcastle, but negotiations have reached a stalemate over our insistence on a sell-on clause in the deal.

Carlisle United are waiting in the wings if no agreement can be reached with Hull.
