Given limped out of training on Monday with a foot injury and Irish anxiety had it that he would be forced to sit out the match which, if Ireland win, would guarantee them at least a play-off place.
United keeper Shay Given looks certain to be fit for the Republic of Ireland's crucial clash with Switzerland on Wednesday.
Given, the hero of Ireland's victory over Cyprus in Nicosia, courtesy of a string of world-class saves - including a 14th-minute penalty stop - suffered an injury scare in training yesterday.
The Newcastle goalkeeper was playing as an outfield player in a five-a-side match at the team's training base at Malahide United, when he was caught in a tackle by Gary Doherty.
Given was forced to undergo an X-ray and scan,  Kerr said: "Shay had an X-ray and scan on his injured foot. This revealed no bone damage, although there is some soft-tissue swelling. We are confident he will be fit to play."
